Glow Discharge(GD)- Characterization of GD - Liquid-gas and solid type sample analysis using Direct current- jet boosted type Glow discharge Mass spectrometer○ Glow DischargePlasma, often called the fourth state of substance, is very hot and partially ionized gas, i.e., positive ions and negative ions in a sea of neutral atoms. In our lab, artificially generated plasma is used for trace analysis by spectroscopic sourceof ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma) and GDP(Glow Discharge Plasma). Current research is mainly about direct analysisof solid sample by GDP. 1. Trace analysis 2. Developing new source of plasma. 3. Characterization of GDP using a single langmuir probe. 4. Optical emission properties of a GDP source. 5. Optogalvanic effect 6. Plasma detectors for chromatography. 7. Water analysis using plasma discharge at atmospheric pressure. 8. Development of GD-cell for gas and liquid sampling analysis. ICP, flame-AA-AE, monochromator, mass spectrometer, laser, GC, LC are frequently used for our experiments.
